Kotsanas Museum of Ancient Greek Technology in Athens presents more than 143 inventions of the ancient Greek technological marvel. The permanent collection “Ancient Greece – the origins of Technologies” gives the opportunity to the audience to discover experientially from the robot – servant of Philon to the cinema of Heron and from the automatic clock of Ktesibios to the analog computer of Antikythera, covering the period from 2000 BC. until the end of the ancient Greek world.
The purpose of the Kotsanas Museum is to highlight the unknown aspect of Ancient Greek Technology through fully functional and scientifically documented exhibits that help the visitor of all ages to meet the technological inventions of Ktesibios, Archimedes, Philon, Heron and many more great inventors of antiquity.
Kotsanas Museum of Ancient Greek Technology has been nominated as “European Museum of the Year 2019” by the European Museum Forum (EMF) and is a member of ICOM (International Council of Museums), Athens Culture Net and the Network of Museums and Cultural Institutions of Athens.
