Description

This program, designed for students of 4th grage of primary school to 3rd grade of high school, is a journey through the life and work of Mikis Theodorakis, one of the most important Greek composers and one of the most emblematic figures of modern Greek history. It is based on documents belonging to his archive, which has been housed at the “Lilian Voudouri” Music Library of the Friends of Music Society since 1997.

Theodorakis was a musical genius and a true symbol of strength, unity, dedication, and patriotism. He lived with passion for music, Greece, freedom, social justice, and world peace.

The central aim of this digital project is to familiarize primary school students with the personality and artistic activity of Mikis Theodorakis, as well as with the concept of the archive, and primary and secondary historical sources.

Specifically, the goals of the project are the following:

  1. For students to learn about the life and work of the great composer, who was one of Greece’s most important cultural figures.
  2. To facilitate discussion and reflection on the impact of his work, both in his time and today.
  3. To encourage students to engage with the material in a creative and interactive way, through workshops, performances, and other activities.
  4. To promote the adoption of digital educational tools by teachers without prior experience or specialization in technology, and their systematic integration into schools.
