Description

This educational programme presents the history of oceans in parallel with the history of life on Earth, focusing on the Prehistoric sea life in Greece. Students will learn about the first organisms that appeared in the early seas of our planet, the evolution of life in marine environments, as well as life in the Prehistoric sea of Greece. The tour is based on the presentation of the Museum’s fossils and on additional educational material. The goals of the programme are to raise public awareness on environmental changes, to showcase the tropical conditions that prevailed in Greek territory in the geological past and the consequences of today’s climate change in the marine environments. Preparation of students prior to the beginning of the educational programme is optional, but will help them have a basic knowledge of the age of the Earth and the marine environment.

Note: The program is offered per class of a maximum of 30 students
